Looking for a Toronto Photographer

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

Sheila is looking for a Toronto baby photographer. She wants to get a Christmas portrait done of Kelly. She even has a new fancy Christmas dress for Kelly to wear. She needs a photographer who will be great with kids and who knows how to get their attention and have them smile pretty for the camera. Kelly has never been to a professional photographer studio before, so it might be a little intimidating or scary for her. But it might also be fun, especially if the place has toys or music or candy for little ones who are on their best behavior. I know Sheila wants to get a beautiful holiday portrait to send out on her Christmas cards this year to show off to all of her friends and family. So if anyone has any recommendations of photographers in the Toronto area, let me know, and I will pass it along.

A Lot of Pressure

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

There’s so much pressure on me to have a stunning wedding. I started this site where I write wedding blogs, and I’ve reviewed lots of other people’s weddings on a regular basis. So now that I’m going to get married myself and have my own wedding, everyone is expecting me to have this fabulous event that outdoes everybody else’s. I’m really starting to feel stressed out about it. I’m just not sure that I can live up to the expectations people have of me right now. I mean, after all, I’m not a celebrity. I’m just a person who started a wedding blog. When I started the blog I didn’t even know that the site would become so popular. I’m trying to figure out a way to get out of this situation. I’m starting to wonder if it isn’t a better idea if I just elope, that way I won’t have a wedding which people can assess and judge and critique.

Take Photography Advice from Your Parents

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

Mary-Ann Dunphy was a young girl who got a camera for her tenth birthday. Her parents sat with her and taught her how to handle the camera. They also gave her some photography advice as they were both photographers. Mary- Ann showed a clear talent for taking good photographs and her parents were very proud of her. Every weekend they would take her camping to the forest nearby and all three of them would hike and take photographs together. By the time Mary-Ann Dunphy was fifteen, she had taken tens of thousands of wonderful photographs on her various cameras. Her prized digital camera had lovely images of trees and forests in high focus. Her film cameras had managed to capture the beautiful wildlife in the forest like deer and birds. Mary-Ann one day exhibited a collection of a hundred of her favorite photographs. A huge art dealer bought fifteen of them, and she earned a lot of money out of her pictures.

Drawing Horses for Fun

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

Horses are great subjects for drawings. Being able to draw a horse means you can evoke all kinds of emotions, from power and fury to complete tenderness and intimacy. Horses are a powerful symbol of the American West, and they still mean things to people about the country, our ability to create and make our own way, and maintain our freedom. Wild horses are a powerful metaphor for that not just in the United States but across the world.

Horses are great to be able to draw, but they are probably not the easiest thing in the world to draw. The trick is to break them down into simpler shapes, and then sketch your way around those shapes until the right lines start to define themselves and the image of your horse emerges. Of course, as with drawing anything, the more you practice, the better you will be. Also force yourself to draw horses from more than one angle.

When It is Almost Too Good to Eat: the Best Digital Cameras to Photograph Food

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Sometimes well cooked and well presented meals are a work of art, and that’s where a digital camera comes in handy. When the food delivered to your table is unbelievably beautiful, and you wish that all your friends could be there to see it, all you have to do is snap a discrete photo and you will have something to show them. Professional photographers work with intense lighting and camera angles to get those amazing shots of food that grace cookbooks. Most of that won’t be under your control unless you find you like taking these kinds of pictures that you want to go pro. However, the best digital cameras for taking pictures of food do have one thing in common. They are able to zoom in closely, really closely. One of the things that make those pictures so appetizing is the ability to see the texture of the food. That is what gives it visual interest, and that is what a close zoom will get you.

The Effect of Aperture in SLR Cameras

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

To anyone who is new to photography, and using an SLR camera with semi or full manual settings you have no doubt come across the term “aperture” somewhere online or in your instruction manual. When you are first learning it is easy to be swamped by jargon, but aperture is one term you should become familiar with. The aperture setting you will favour will depend greatly on the type of photos you are trying to take. For example, landscape photography and say, portraiture would require very different aperture settings for one very clear reason – depth of field. When you shoot a wide open landscape you would most likely prefer the whole image to be sharp (in focus) whereas in portraiture it should be your aim to focus sharply on the face or eyes of your subject, while blurring the background detail somewhat to enhance the subject even further. Understanding the effect of aperture on your image making will enable you to get the results you want every time.

I Have Two Custom Paintings of Plovdiv at Home

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Plovdiv is a wonderful town with specific atmosphere. I have two custom paintings of Plovdiv at home. These custom paintings are created by Edward Smith. The paintings represent recreations of the centre of Plovdiv. The houses in the centre of Plovdiv have remarkable architecture. I am really happy with my paintings. Edward Smith is a great portrait painter. I like very much the way he paints landscapes. Edward Smith took a course on landscapes during his studies at Oxford University. His landscapes are famous all over the world. My landscapes of Plovdiv bring light to my house. Everybody is fascinated by my paintings of Plovdiv. The precision of my paintings is remarkable. The beauty of my paintings is remarkable, also. I will visit Plovdiv this summer again. I will ask Edward Smith to paint another custom painting of Plovdiv. I will ask him to paint the international fair, which will be organized in Plovdiv this summer.

Travel Insurance a Must Have for International Fashion Photographers

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Fashion photography, is to say the least, a dream profession for many people. If fashion photography is a profession you are interested in, make sure you understand the many benefits of travel insurance.Travel insurance offers valuable protection for international travelers in many ways.

For example, fashion photography equipment is quite expensive. Having an airline lose it would not only be a major inconvenience, but also a huge blow financially. Paying for new equipment, as well as potentially losing income by missing a shoot, could be devastating.

But travel insurance plans often feature lost luggage coverage, offering you financial reimbursement for items that airlines lose, as well as assistance in working with airlines to track down the missing goods. Yet another area in which travel insurance policies might help you is when airline delays and cancellations threaten your travel plans.

Your small investment in insurance could save you a few thousand dollars if an airline misplaces your bags.

Spend Less on a Refurbished Digital Camera

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Those who are thinking about getting into photography have probably been told several times that it is an expensive endeavor. That statement is true. State of the art cameras, digital photography software and good quality printers all cost a pretty penny. If you are a novice, you may want to go down the less expensive route and start off with a refurbished digital camera. By doing so, you can save 20%, and maybe as much as 60%, off on the standard retail price. Those savings could be used to pay for photography lessons or to purchase the other equipment that you will need. Plenty of cameras are being sold online so the internet is a good place to begin your search. You can go to online auctions and find several camera choices. The Best Expression Of One’s Thoughts And Feelings Comes Through Art

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

A piece of art speaks a thousand words. And this is a very unique talent, not something that anybody and everybody can execute to perfection. It requires a deep passion to pursue it because it may not be very lucrative financially especially for the beginners. It also requires a deep interest on the other side to be able to appreciate good art. During one of my recent visits to an Art Exhibition, I was over-awed by the work that was displayed at the gallery – many a modern canvas art spoke to me as if the artist was speaking to me personally – as if whispering in my ear. It made me realise that art is such a personal thing – it’s not really about what the art critics say – it’s a personal thing between you and the artist.

Nature was the theme of the exhibitor’s collection and the work was simply breath-taking. Indeed, art is a unique expression of one’s thoughts which requires the right audience for the right interpretation.

Graffiti: Original And Beautiful Art Or A Hindrance To Society?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Graffiti can be found all over-from desktops to trees, from abandoned buildings to tunnels, or from walls to signs. It is unusual to go a day without seeing some sort of graffiti, though you may not take much note of it. Personally, I see graffiti as an art form to be marveled and admired. Although Banksy introduced high brow art to the masses, this form of graffiti has been around for years.

For me, graffiti instills a sense of mystery and wonder. When I see graffiti, such as “Frank was here” I cannot help but to wonder. Who is Frank? When was he here? Graffiti always makes me think-which files it under “art” for me. In addition, it is often anonymous expressions of affection or feeling that the artist/writer wishes to express with the world. “JD + GK <3″or “RIP Melanie” are such examples. Often, I see colorful spray-painted wording on walls and tunnels. I am never entirely sure as to what they say, but I believe colors of the paint and shaping of the letters are beautiful, and have character. I actually like to take walks so I can admire graffiti up-close, mainly because I am filled with a sense of mystery and the positive feelings graffiti evokes.
